The 5th consecutive season of PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week was held in Lahore recently. An amazing line-up of designers showcased back to back over the course of 3 days. With leading couturiers from across the country showcasing their best of the best I personally loved The House Of Kamiar Rokni the most.
After their successful showcase of “The Orientalist” back in 2013. The House Of Kamiar Rokni (THOKR) topped the charts this year with their collection “ALCHEMY”.
Alchemy as a term of chemistry is said to be the believe of chemists that Gold could be created by manipulating various other elements and compounds. I feel taking this concept for the construction of the collection was a very wise idea, as it gives you the freedom to use colour, fabric and embellishments. Though the freedom of materials often leads to something miss-managed, But these designers not at all went wrong with this freedom. The collection was very balanced in sense of colours, fabric and embellishments. The silhouettes this time were quite practical and safe in comparison to the previous collections, featuring various lengths and volumes in forms of Shirts, Jackets, Gowns, Skirts, Farshi Ghararas and Pants with cropped, skinny, cut work and flared fittings. Majorly used fabrics were Silks, Organzas, Jamawars, Chiffons and Nets.
Talking about the show, while other designers made, change overs, approached models apart from their pools, called celebrity show stoppers, THOKR chose to showcase a simple single file show with Clothes being the biggest high light. I really liked the idea of Dupattas sweeping on the floor, which actually brought the amazing work on the pallus to notice.
